Having accomplished half of the project period, the SmartSenior consortium demonstrated future applications and services at CeBIT Lab at the booth of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Visitors from Germany and abroad (72% and 28%) came to know the integrative, intuitive, and assistant-based solutions for which SmartSenior stands for. Each of the three vivid and with interactive live-demos equipped stations, showing the home environment, mobile environment and telemedical center, could be explored.
The booth was widely appreciated by seniors and their families. Representatives from industry, academia and politics showed keen interest in the SmartSenior solutions.
One of the guests was the Federal Minister for Education and Research, Prof. Dr. Annette Schavan, who assured herself about the project's progress and presented SmartSenior in her opening speech of the lab talks. Another prominent visitor was Mrs. Almuth Hartwig-Tiedt, the Permanent Secretary in the Senate of Berlin for Economics, Technology and Women.
The SmartSenior presence at the CeBIT 2011 was a great success. This is documented not only by visits of decision makers and the numerous on-site discussions with interested potential users, but also by the national and international media coverage on the project. Apart from well known TV shows like the late-night news "ARD Nachtmagazin", the Korean TV was interested in the project.
